Location

Wurankuwu outstation is about 50 km west of Nguiu on Bathurst Island. It has a population of approximately 50.

Community Services and Facilities

TILG maintains a small office which provides communications and administration support to the community. The community is managed by the Wurankuwu Services Officer who is responsible for administration and maintenance of infrastructure, including housing and essential services.

There are postal facilities available in the community, and a community store and social club owned and operated by Buffalo Trading. The club is open 4-7pm Monday to Saturday.

Access to Wurankuwu

It has an airstrip for charter flights only. Wurankuwu is about 90 km by air (25 mins) from Darwin.

CDEP

The TILG Community Development Employment Program in Wurankuwu provides employees and equipment for community maintenance services.
